We used to re-use plastic butter bowls and such for our counter top compost bins, but I was never happy, as odors started building quickly, the bowls didn't hold many scraps, and food stains made them look bad, no matter how we tried to wash them. This bin looks good, cleans easily, holds lots of scraps and keeps smells inside. The grip on the handle makes it comfortable to carry outside to the compost. We're very happy with this solution to our ugly bowl problem.

Fasteen
Within a day or two of using the Compost Keeper, the lid separated into two pieces. The top section came off leaving the bottom piece still sitting in the keeper. I returned it to Amazon.

I got this for my dad he is big on "go green"! Its nice size and sleek looking sitting on the counter. He has had it over a month and loves it he thanks me for it all the time! I read over 50 reviews before I purchases this one. I LOVE the charcoal filters and even bought the biodegradable bags. They are truly a lifesaver! The rubber grip handle makes it easy to walk out by back door to take a messy and heavy load of compost out to the compost box area we have. I have seen fruit flies in my kitchen but they weren't from this canister! Awesome!

we purchased this compost keeper because we wanted something to put our scraps in so i can use them in my garden. we bought this one because it is all metal and it has a carbon filter so you don't smell anything that's in it. we have had it for about a month and use it everyday. my husband uses it every morning for his coffee grounds so it gets filled and we use it for fruit and veggie scraps. we currently don't have an outside compost unit however i put the scraps into the ground at a specif location in our yard and stir it up and it creats the compost that way and it works fatastic for us. this unit is easy to clean and looks fantastic on the counter. the lid doesn't lock in place but it does make a good seal so you can't smell any of the stuff that's in it. we recommend it to others!!!
