Product Description Ideal for small apartments or homes with limited space, this portable washing machine connects to a sink in just five easy steps with the included quick-connect sink adapter. The appliance features a 1-1/2-cubic-foot tub that can accommodate loads both large and small, plus an electronic control panel with an LED display for simple operation. Choose from four wash cycles (soak, wash, rinse, or spin); four water-level settings (very low, low, medium, or high), depending on the size of the load; and six cycle programs (standard, heavy, gentle, quick wash, wash, or spin). It also provides a power on/off button, a start/pause button for starting or pausing the wash cycle, function indicator lights, a beep to signal the end of the cycle, and automatic shut-off after about 10 minutes. Leveling legs make it possible to stabilize the unit even if it sits on uneven ground, and its see-through top lid allows for checking in on the wash cycle at a glance. To ensure safety, the unit will not operate with the lid open. Accessories include a power-cord clip, a water inlet hose, a drain-hose outlet plug, a gooseneck drain hook, a drain hose clamp, a lint filter, and a water filter--both filters can be removed for cleaning as needed. Fully assembled, the CSA-approved washing machine measures 19-11/16 by 21-1/8 by 34-23/32 inches and carries a one-year warranty.

perfect size, quiet, but can't figure out why it leaks June 24, 2010 Happy to have a washer, Kathy (Freeland, WA) I am very excited to have the washing machine. First load went very well and I was surprised how many clothes it can actually hold. Second load, there was water on the floor beneath the machine. It is not apparent what causes this.
The machine came in a timely manner and was packaged well against damage.
Don't buy this washer June 22, 2010 Lou C. (New York City, USA) This washer never washed clothes that well and broke down after 16 months (motor died). Repairing it would have been so expensive that I decided to chuck it. I wouldn't recommend buying this washer, but if you do, get an extended warranty.
Great little washer June 13, 2010 T. McCullough (Cedar Rapids, IA) I'm a single person in an apartment and was hoping to save some time and quarters with this washer. I've had it a few months now and am very pleased with it. I was skeptical as to how much this washer could hold, but it actually fits more than you'd think. I can do a week's worth of laundry in 2-3 loads.
The washer is relatively quiet, doesn't move or require babysitting. You want to make sure to secure the gooseneck drain hose in the sink or else you'll have a mess on your hands. The spin cycle does a nice job so the clothes don't come out excessively wet, which is great since I hang dry everything.
The washer does NOT come on wheels (that feature would have been nice) but I have placed it on a wheeled furniture dolly so I can easily roll it in and out of place. The washer did not look like the one that is pictured on the listing. I have uploaded an image of what mine looks like.
The washer initially came defective. I would turn it on and I couldn't get it to do anything when I pushed the buttons. I ended up calling Haier and they had a technician come to my place within days for free. The control panel was not lined up with the insides, so when I pushed a button it didn't correspond to anything. The guy was able to fix it. He also attached the hose adapter to the sink for me. The adapter is very confusing I had a very difficult time trying to get it hooked up myself. There is a component that comes off and is permanently screwed on to my sink so I can just pop the hose right on very easily.
Overall, for the price this washer is great! It's so wonderful to be able to do laundry in my own apartment!
Great purchase! Makes apartment living SO much better! June 6, 2010 K. Chase (Portland, OR) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After having done a lot of research on Haier portable washing machines we decided to go with the HLP23E. Funny thing is that this is the washing machine that has hardly any information about it on the Haier website ([...]) and I could hardly find any informative reviews either. One of the differences between the two other portable washing machines Haier offers and this one is that the wash tub is NOT made out of stainless steel. This, however, in no way affects its performance. Also, I am one of the consumers that did receive it with a couple dents. These are purely cosmetic and also does not affect the performance of the machine. I was able to fit a surprising amount of laundry into the tub! It's bigger than I expected, which makes it kind of difficult to move around when I'm not using it, but we plan to put it on a rolling base to eliminate that problem. Haier also offers the rolling base. ([...]) It was VERY easy to set up, though the directions were very vague. It's easy enough for one to figure it out. I have had NO problems with leaks or noise. In fact, I find it a lot quieter than I had expected. The only problem I have had is the lid. It is hinged in the middle and has recently snapped off. It will be an easy fix, but I was bummed that it didn't take too long for a little piece to break. We are still able to use it, but it just slides off really easy when opening or closing the whole lid.
All in all I find this machine a complete life saver. I'm pregnant and have been on bed rest almost my entire third trimester and this has made life a thousand times easier since I no longer can make trips to the laundry room in our apartment complex. PLUS, we were spending almost $50 a month in quarters for the laundry machines and are now saving enormous amounts of money with this great machine! (Plugs into a regular wall outlet and hardly uses any energy!) Laundry is always done and I don't have to travel down stairs and across the complex with loads of laundry!
Our next purchase will be the 3.5 SQ FT portable dryer. For now we hang dry everything, which is not a problem for us. Also, keep in mind that for large items (like bedding and such) you will probably need to utilize a full size washer and dryer. We use our washer for pretty much everything else, like towels, pants, clothes, underwear, socks, small blankets, dish towels, fabric liners on strollers and car seats, baby clothes, diapers, etc. There's plenty of cycle options and you can customize what kind of cycle you want at any time. Water levels are also adjustable. Temperature is easy to change. If you want to do a warm load, just adjust your faucet to warm. Same with all temperatures. If you need the different cycles to be different temperatures, just adjust the faucet as you would normally between tub fillings. It's super easy!
Haier HLP23E, Awesome little thing! May 21, 2010 Jorge M. Gonzalez (Miami, FL) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this item in order to replace a 24" front-loading Equator, it was a fairly good machine, but it was as noisy as a horse stampede. (We live in a 3rd floor apartment) Now we can wash even late at night or early in the morning!
I like the style, the awesome capacity, and the quietness of this little beauty. We've enjoyed it for a couple of days only, so I can't post about durability or longevity, but I think the positive reviews are greatly deserved.
The happy faces:
Perfect for a small closet, great for apartments.
It can handle a very decent load size.
Super quiet. (A blessing)
Very economic as far as price, water, detergent, and electricity.
The "Pause" (At any time) feature is very nice, it allows you to add softener when the rinse cycle starts.
Very stylish. (My wife 's in love with it)
Sad faces:
I'm editing this since I noticed the surface of the control panel is NOT metal as I thought it was, it looks like, but it is not, it's plastic. No sad faces then.
Not related to quality:
In my case, mine came with an opaque lid, (Not clear as advertised) so there's no see-through here. However, this is a minor inconvenience. (besides not necessary)
I recommend this washer because I believe that (with the recommended care and maintenance) it would pay for itself in a short time.
