Grates carrots fast. Might require more hand strength than some women like. July 17, 2010 earnest This is a good tool for preparing grated carrots for salads: much faster than by hand. It slices radishes and cucumbers nicely. You can decide if you want a thin slice or a thick slice. It is a little louder than I like soundwise, but it's a good tool for fast salads, and the clean up is quick and easy. I store it in a handy place and use it almost nightly. I like using Amazon.com, too.

great product. i had one before that quit working after about 17 years. ordered one from ace hardware, but it turned out to be a smaller model. took it back and got the pro.
Love my Salad Shooter! June 24, 2010 Sharon Karson (COLORADO SPRINGS, CO, US) My original salad shooter had a single slicer and a single grater. I used it almost daily for approximately 20 years. My new one has a larger feed tube with the option to use a small part for smaller items. It's faster and has more slicing and grating options. I just love it. I hope to continue to use it regularly for as long as I did my first one. This is a great for busy cooks everywhere because you can grate or slice very quickly, directly into the pan or dish you use to cook or serve the food in. Further you have more control than with the food processors that have exterior food shoots.
It works fine - but is more effort than it's worth. June 13, 2010 T. Meeks (Honolulu, HI United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this to make my weekly salads (for lunch each day). I make them all on Sunday and thought this would cut down on all the veggie chopping. It works fine - and it's pretty easy. But frankly, hand chopping and cutting takes just about as much time - and is a lot easier. You can't put things like broccoli or tomatoes in it and expect to get the nice chunks that are in a salad. So really, it's only good for things like cucumbers, mushrooms, and I guess carrots. Basically, by the time you take it out of the cupboard, assemble, slice the veggies, disassemble, clean, put away... it's just a lot easier to hand cut.
Salad Shooters are great for grating cheese June 5, 2010 courtney (Oklahoma) Love mine for easiness to grate cheese. I don't use it for anything else though. But then again I am not the world's greatest cook. I am actually really lazy and this is awesome. I also like the Nicer Dicer product. So I recommend that.
