When the weather is too cold to stand outside over the gas grill, fire up the Perfecto indoor grill instead. This electric grill has an embedded heating element and a special M-shaped grill design so the entire surface area heats up and grilling results are more consistent. Its adjustable, detachable thermostat has five temperature levels and can be adjusted low for grilling corn or other vegetables and higher for steaks or shrimp. The grill surface itself is nonstick, so less oil is required for cooking and swordfish steaks flip nicely without sticking. A nonstick splatter shield surrounds the edge of the grill to prevent walls and countertops from getting greasy and a drip tray below the grill's surface catches any juices. Both the cooking surface and tray remove easily for painless cleanup. For the most tender and juicy meats, the tempered glass lid fits over the grill to retain moisture while still allowing the chef to check on meat's progress. For safety, the Perfecto has cool-touch handles to prevent fingers from burns and an indicator light to show when the grill is heating up. Perfect Indoor Grill September 9, 2010

This is the perfect upgrade from the George Foreman, by a long shot! With the Foreman, I always felt that the press action without the grill marks just was kind of disgusting, also disgusting the way the grease would roll off the grill. I bought a piece of filet mignon once and it was torched in 2 mins on the Foreman. I live in a condo and cannot have an outdoor grill. I really wanted something to mimic an outdoor grill as much as possible. This is the perfect solution. I grilled salmon tonight and it truly tastes as if it came off of an outdoor grill. It was cooked perfectly and has gorgeous grill marks. I would not be able to identify if the fish was cooked on an indoor or outdoor grill, that's how good it is. The only downside is the cleaning of the grill. It's not super hard, it's just that the grill plate has an attachment that cannot be soaked on one end, so you cannot just soak the plate to make it easy to scrub off the debris. However, with a regular scrub brush, I thought it cleaned up just fine. I am so happy, this grill is perfecto!

The only reason I gave this grill a 4 was that the preheating time needed is a bit longer than expected and cleaning is challenge... but that may be due to my lack of experience in grilling. Otherwise awesome product that I'll use frequently.

I'll comment later on durability but we REALLY enjoyed the chicken my wonderful wife cooked for us last night on this grille.
No mess. Chicken was tender and properly seared on the outside. Nice grill marks on the chicken, not that this matters much.
Cooking time was a reasonable ~20 minutes (plenty of time for other ingredients to cook). Finished chicken was done right and still juicy. Seems the George grilles that friends have used for meals they made for us might dry out the meats cooked on them. Or maybe that is how friends like to cook their meat. I don't know. The George grilles also seem expensive for their sizes. For me to buy a George grille this size would have been very expensive. Also haven't been able decipher the George grille model list yet. Seems to be two dozen different George grilles with only slight differences between them.
We like to grill outside with our gas grille when the bugs aren't eating us for dinner or when it isn't raining or when snow isn't blowing. On these occasions or when we want the minimum fuss - we'll use this electric grill.
Read the instructions. The last few pages are the most important. Don't submerse the grille heating element or the thermostat in water. That means the dishwasher is out. You can use the dish washer for the lid and base and drip pan. Preheat the grill for 10 minutes. There is a warmup light I think my wife said. Heat until the light goes off. Those last pages of the manual tell you which temps/times to use for what kind of foods.
Lastly foods that don't lay flat are not going to cook well such as drumsticks. They need to contact the grill surface to cook. Fillets, steaks and hamburgers ought to do well. I'm going to try grilling veggies soon.
Looks very similar to the Hamilton-Beach and Sanyo grilles. Oh and - "Made in China" unfortunately. Where have all the "Made in the USA" or at least in Italy products gone?

I bought this grill because of all it's positive reviews on this site. I've cooked chicken skewers, lamb chops and burgers on it so far. I couldn't seem to get the grill hot enough to get the outcome I desired (a char crust) even with the lid on. I guess it will have to do for rainy days when I can't use the propane grill outside. I would Look into other grills and specifically their cooking temps. I wouldn't buy this grill if I had a choice to do it again!

While this grill will never replace my charcoal grills and wood smoker it is a great option when you want to grill and the temperature is hovering around a hundred and the mosquitoes are swarming. Obviously you don't get the flavor of charcoal or wood smoke but there is a very good sear.It gives some of the best grill marks I have ever seen. The heat on high after a 10 minute warm up is about comparable to a medium or medium high fire on a charcoal grill so for some things a longer cooking time is required. I cooked hamburgers 4 minutes to the side on high with a 3/4" thick patty which is how I cook them over charcoal and it was perfect. Grilled shrimp were done in about 3 minutes to the side. While the flavor is not the same as cooking over charcoal or wood, it is comparable to the taste of meat cooked on a gas grill only without the insects and hot weather.
